This country has a tropical climate with warm weather all year round. Temperatures range from 21 to 32 Celsius.

Currency

The unit of currency is the Malaysian Ringgit indicated as RM. Foreign currencies can be converted at banks and money changers and ATMS are widely available.

Electrics

Different plugs ranging from a two pin to a UK three pin are used in different parts of the country. We recommend bringing a multi-plug adapter. 

Visa requirements

Visitors to Malaysia must be in possession of a valid passport or travel document with a minimum validity of six months beyond the intended visiting period. Most nationalities do not require visas.

National Food & Drink

Malaysian food is heavily influenced by Thai, Chinese, Indonesian and Indian cuisine. Malay food is generally spicy not chili-hot per se, but at least peppery.

Local Culture

Malaysia is a multi-cultural society. The main ethnic groups are the native Malays as well as Chinese, and Indians. The family is considered the centre of the social structure. As a result there is a great emphasis on unity, loyalty and respect for the elderly.

While Malay is the national language English is very widely spoken.
