Weather

Singapore is generally hot and humidall year round, with the temperatures rarely dropping below 20°C (68°F) at night and they also can climb to over 30°C (86°F) during the day.

Currency

The currency used in Singapore is the Singaporean dollar also known as the Sing dollar. In stores, prices are marked as S$. ATMs are available all throughout country.

Electrics

Many hotels have two different sockets with many having the UK 3 flat pin as well as a 2 round pin. We recommend bringing a universal plug adaptor as this could change.

Visa requirements

Generally tourists may stay 30 days in Singapore without the need for a visa.

National Food & Drink

Don’t leave Singapore without trying their popular and national dish of Hainanese chicken rice. After a rice meal, end your dining experience by eating dessert treats of Chendol which is commonly found at Hawker centers. The Singapore sling was also made famous here!

Local Culture

Singaporeans used to go barefoot inside their homes as visitors must remove footwear once entering their home. The Government in Singapore is very strict when it comes to rules and regulations which must be observed at all times when visiting this country such as being fined for throwing out chewing gum.

Language

Singapore’s multiplicity of languages reflects its racial diversity. Malay, Chinese, Tamil, and English are all official languages. Malay is the national language, whilst English is the common language spoken by all.

History

A British colony way from 1870 and was occupied by Japanese during World War II. The British gained it back the land in 1945 until its full independence in 1965.

Designated bus stops can be found every street. There are also electric railways for mass transport which connects to all districts in Singapore.
